Matters of the Heart

Matters of the heart I know too well
Everything happens the same in life
Giving up is something most people give into
And know not of the help they can get
Now and then I tend to slip
Wanting to just give in and give up
Always wondering if it would be easier
Leaning towards the edge, wanting to drop
Teetering over the edge but always coming back
Only to see the reality of the situation
Never again do I want to step to that edge
Veering onto that path I must avoid
Only seconds have kept me from falling
Uttering under my breath that I want to say goodbye
But knowing that it would be a cowards way out
So I step back and take a deep breath, seeing the reality
And once again I know what I must do
